Video games and games on mobile phone are also considered to be computer games. Some people try to turn computer games into arts and there are several attempts to prove it and to turn them into real masterpieces and artworks.
Besides, the existence of competitions in computer games proves the appearance of new kind of sport – electronic sport.

The first computer and video games were created in 1950-60s. The first games were very primitive and were easy to play. One of the most famous games of that period is "Pong".
Computer games may be of different genres. There are action games, shoot, CRPG, JRPG, MUD, MMORPG and other games. But genres and the division of genres are not specified. There are also some games that can be referred to several genres. These games are Grand Theft Auto, Space Rangers, and Rome: Total War.

Stealth-action games are also rather popular. A player has to fight with different enemies but unlike shooting games it is necessary to avoid the contact with the enemies. Stealth elements may be used in many games of other genres.
Strategy games are based on strategy. A player rules a country, a world, or business. Strategy games are divided into Turn-based strategy and Real-time strategy.
Computer games have adopted all genres that are used in cinematography and literature. The most famous are fantasy, historical games, space fights, mythological.
But cyberpunk is the most famous. It is a game of scientific fiction that describes the nearest future of humanity in which the development of technology (the development of mostly computer technologies) is on very high level. But at the same time it is described on background of social problems.
But computer games are very much discussed in the society. The problem is that computer games are often based on violence and sex. And they have a harmful influence on children who play them.
