Why do we play games??
Have you ever thought why people play games? Why do we need it? Why do people spend hours in front of computer monitor? Why do people go to the casino and gamble all money they have there?
Nobody can give exact answer on these questions. And the answer depends on the person, his/her education, views on the world, attitude to games.
No doubt, a game is one of the most important things in the life of every person. We start playing games from childhood; moreover our main activity in childhood is playing games. Children get to know the world thanks to games. So the most important purpose of the game is to educate. That is why it is so important to consider the educational value of the game before you buy it or let your child play it.
But people also play games to relax. When people are tired and come back home from their work, they want to do something unnecessary and unimportant, in other words, to relax. And in such case a game is very useful. Sometimes people become obsessed by constant playing and don't even pay attention to the real world. But if a game is easy to play and corresponds to person's hobbies, it is a good way of spending time. Playing virtual football with virtual football celebrities may really help person to relax.
People also play computer games to do something that can't be done in real life. People shoot, kill monsters and enemies, save the world, become the leaders of the government, find companions and create countries. It is easier to live in virtual world that in the real one, because there are laws and rules in the virtual world and all players obey these rules.
Some people play games to waste the time away. For example, some companies propose to play a game while its clients are waiting for something. When you play game you don't notice how the time passes that is why waiting becomes not so boring.
People also play games to feel emotions they want to feel. For example, some people want to get a doze of adrenaline, so they play dangerous games. Some people want to commit some crime and they commit it virtually. Other people want to taste the victory; other people want to get as many points as possible and to set a record in such way.
But of course people play games for a variety of reasons. People go to the cinemas, watch television and visit friends for the same reasons.
